From Bad Ways To Sell Your Horse Posts 201-300

Manerva is a flea bitten gray and about 13 years old. She is up to date on all her shots. She is 2D barrel horse and has been shown latly and has placed 3rd or 4th every time. She has also been run on goat tying and has placed 1st everytime. Anyone can ride her . She is easy to catch and will stand for the farrier. She is SOUND. Please call 000-000-0000 DO NOT EMAIL

So today I'm doing something a little different since I thought dear Lindsey said it so well with her opinions that accompanied the ad in her email: Um, ok, doesn't SOUND like a bad ad. But look at the pictures! THAT is supposed to be a 2D barrel horse?!? How? She has NO back end! (and SUCH a nice long back to go with it *eyeroll* She doesn't even look like she could CANTER without falling over, let alone run a barrel pattern!) So apparently she's been 3rd or4th every time she's been shown lately. I bet I can guess how many horses were in the class! LOL

Thanks to Lindsey H.!

Ok, is it just me or does it look like those pictures have been altered? Look at the black patch over her butt. It's there in both pictures and looks a little uneven...almost suspicious. I can't tell 100% in either picture because even the magnified one isn't very close-up but it's enough to make me wonder. Hmmmmmm lol.

Peaches it looks like the dark spot over her butt is the shade of inside the shed. I'm guessing, but it looks like a roof attached to the building on the right side.

I agree though it is not exactly one of the better photos to be used. I thought the mares butt was extremely (and weirdly so) - flat.

It may be anybody's guess as to why this mare is consistantly 3rd or 4th, but at least she is consistant. If there is only 4 horses in the class though...

Makes you wonder.

Ha ha ha ha! Glad you liked my little tirade about this mare! I wasn't sure if you'd use it since, you know, the *ad* isn't bad. That mare is just...funky. Lol

Well, Lindsey, you explained yourself very well! So I thought I should just use what you said instead of trying to come up with my own reasons!

The ad itself isn't right, I mean they call her a 2D mare then say she's always 3rd or 4th in the class? those are 2 different placing techniques. Idk but I do NBHA and if someone told me that mare was a 2D horse I'd have to laugh. Barrel horses have big butts, this horse has no butt

Hey, you never know - the best barrel horse on my High school's equestrian team was a rangy Dachsund of a grade horse. He wiggled and wobbled all around the pattern but if you could keep his head up he'd win. I wish I had videos of it, it was hilarious. XD

My own barrel horse is on the long side and light in the hindquarters and he runs 1D. Even his worst runs-if we don't tip a barrel are 4D's. So I don't think it's that out of line to believe that this mare is able to run 2D.

Beautiful conformation does not automatically come with ability and ability does not always have beautiful conformation.

But since it is 'Bad Ways to Sell Your Horse'...I would agree that if I was looking to sell this mare, I would probably use some action shots or load some videos of her performing to show people what she can do vs. throwing up unflattering photos.
